How do I find an exponential function with 2 given points? ex: (1,12) (4,768)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3(4^{x})\]

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

oh well i had the whole thing typed out, then my screen froze and i lost it y = 3(4^x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mind explaining how you came to that answer (if it's not too much trouble)?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

y = a*b^x plug in x and y from 2 points to get 2 equations then use substitution to solve for a and b

Alright, thanks a lot.
