The length of a rectangle is 4m longer than its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 40m , find its area.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mark the width as x then the length is 4+x. the perimeter of a rectangle is two times its length plush two times it width there for 40= 2x + 2(x+4) --> 40= 4x + 8 --> 32=4x --> x=8 now that you know bought length and width multiply them one with the other and you'll get your answer
