What value is added to both sides of the equation x2 – 8x = –10 in order to solve by completing the square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take half of the b coefficient, in this case it is 8, so take half of -8, and you will get 4. Now (x-4). Now square that: (x-4)^2, and after foiling you will get: x^2-8x+16. Which mean that you will add 16 to both sides of this equation
