why does sodium undergo a reaction that burns with bright yellow flame with O2 but Mg with bright white flame? is it because Na is more reactive than Mg? then why is it that the reactivity decreases? How is the reactivity like across period 3? then why is P suddenly having such a vigorous reaction with O2?
