3square root x=-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this the question: \[3\sqrt{x}=10\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but it is -10. Where is that sign on the keyboard?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, first thing to do is to square both sides. once you do that you will get: 9x=100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can solve from there right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i bet it is \[\sqrt[3]{x}=-10\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is not "3 square root x" it is "cubed root x"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with Satellite

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the answer is \[x= -1000\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is my guess. i cannot be certain but it surely makes the problem simpler

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lizzy this means the cubed root. for example \[\sqrt[3]{8}=2\] because \[2^3=8\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@langrange this is a common error (not on your part) confusion with how to write cubed root and what it means
