Can someone explain the kreb cycle and 1080s' effect on it as simply as possible?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

A simplistic explanation is that the krebs cycle (also known as the TCA cycle or Citric Acid cycle) is the process by which 'food' (glucose etc) is converted into energy. (Animation here: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072507470/student_view0/chapter25/animation__how_the_krebs_cycle_works__quiz_1_.html ) 1080 is Sodium fluoroacetate and when ingested and metabolized it is transformed in cells to fluorocitrate which a strong enzyme inhibitor. Basically it inhibits one of the enzymes in the citric acid cycle stopping it. This leads to accumulation of food molecules and little to no energy production. The following muscle and vital organs malfunction leads to death. I would give you a better explanation but I can no longer remember!
