HOW IS MLA SO DIFFERENT THAN USUAL ENGLISH?

MLA is simply the American way of citation in English. 
 All English whether in UK or US or anywhere else for that matter needs correct Citation practices when it comes down to producing Academic Papers be it for a Course or a Professional Journal.
  Standard normal English as in magazines does not rely on citation but they cannot plagirse hence they will say Wonder beauty book by wonder person says x y z and your celluite will go £15.99 so I would surmise, none of us are allowed to plagirise and we have to all acknowledge Citation practices, but in Academia it is an absolute must to cite Sources even if you have to fill pages to do so to avoid penalties.
