What is the difference between meiosis and mitosis? and when is each used, in what biological situations?

the difference is that meiosis is a cell division whereby one cell divides into four new cells (gametes). unlike mitosis, gametes produced during meiosis contain half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell . human cells contain 23 pairs of chromosomes, that is, 46 chromosomes. / meiosis is used in the Sexual reproduction but the mitosis is used in the Asexual reproduction
