I use Open Office Free Latest Version, also Google Docs. I wish I had the skills to properly format documents in the appropriate manner.
 Open Office is not MS which costs a bomb and is just as good, Google Docs means I can save docs privately on the web but also download them in various formats like .text.pdf etc so I can also save to HDD equally  as important.

Surely it depends on Subject read and studied? Wolfram have issued a Document Format called I believe CDP one for the Mathematicians but also one for those of us who wish to write in as intelligent way as possible within our limits. For me any good WP will mean you input serious maths questions as a primary thing as well as provide formatting and tools for those of a more literary bent.
