If I is the centroid of triangle FGH and GI = 2.8 cm, calculate the length of line GK.
Please show work :D thanks...
no more parameters ?
No, thats all the information they allow
Any ideas guys? I'm completely stumped...
I'm thinking about it, it has to due with symmetry I'm pretty sure GI and HI have to be the same length due to them both being medians but i can't find the postulate that says this so I'm unsure about making it as my first assumption
Thats exactly what I thought too, but its not one of the answers I have A. 5.6 cm B. 4.2 cm C. 1.87 cm D. 1.4 cm
Those are what my course allows, and its not A
well its asking for GK so you would have to use trig to find the other sides and eventually get to find KI then add it to GI
I guess so, the appendix claims that the answer is B
Would it be take half of one side and add it to the other? Sort of like 1.4 +2.8?
ill get it give me like 5 to look up postulate to make sure i can make that assumption
Cooleo, :D
hold on there was a mistake et me rewrite
basically you are making 30-60-90 triangles out of the smaller triangles. Unfortunately, i can find the postulate that states this but if we work backwards knowing that the length of KI=1.4. there fore sin(theta)=1.4/2.8 which can be simplified to sin(theta)=0.5 theta=sine^-1(0.5) theta =30 degrees
sorry thats the best i got ha ha
Thanks for everything man :D
yea sorry i couldn't be more help though kind of a weak answer. My logic is kind poor since i knew the answer and worked backwards lol
Don't worry, I'm thankful for anything you have to offer, this is just practice for my final tomorrow, hope fully i can ace it
good luck =D
I don't have a good geometry foundation, yet i skipped it this year, and I'm going into AP Stats as a sophomore, hopefully its manageable
Thanks a ton
i did it you will be fine AP stats was an easy exam all simple math
Awesome, well anyways, I have to go to bed, ttyl :)
see ya
