i need help with median

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put all the numbers in order from least to greatest and then take a number off of each side one at a time from left to right. the last number left in the middle is the mean. if there are two numbers left, add them together and then divide by two. the answer is your mean.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

median is always the middle number of a group of numbers. so 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 - the median is 5. if you have an even set of numbers, take the middle two and divide by 2. e.g,. 1, 3, 5, 6 - the median is 4 [(3 + 5) / 2].

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lifesaver - you mean the the number left in the middle is the median, right? (versus the mean)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah the middle number is the median.
