simplify using only positive exponents in the final answer...im pretty sure i have this right but i thought i'd check it... 12a^3bc^4/18a^5b^2c

what did you come up with?
ok if you reduced 12/18 to 2/3 and subtracted the exponents then you would be correct
so.. what did you end up with on the numerator
are you there?
nothing huh well here's the solution \[\frac{12a^{3}bc^{4}}{18a^{5}b^{2}c} = \frac{2c^{4-1}}{3a^{5-3}b^{2-1}} = \frac{2c^{3}}{3a^{2}b}\]
