RS bisects angle QRT, measure angle QRS-93x+80 degrees, and measure angle SRT=(9x-4) degrees. find measure angle SRT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops QRS= (3x+8) degrees

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

when line bisects an angle it splits it into 2 equal angles therefore QRS = SRT 3x+8 = 9x-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so does that mean the SRT is just 9x-4?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well yes but you can solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or i still need to solve both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes combine terms, get x's on one sides, constants on other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

then plug the x value into 9x-4 to get a number for SRT :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

let me know what you get, i'll check your answer for you if you like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got x=2 then 9(2)-4=14 so angle SRT = 14?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

perfect good job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow thank you so much :) you made it way easier for me to understand!

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

no problem so what do you think angle QRT is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be double what SRT is because SRT is half of QRT? so like 28

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes good thats exactly the right kind of thinking since it bisects it into 2 equal angles, if you double the angle you get the starting angle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sweet :) man i wish my math teacher was like you, hes doesnt teach us anything he just gives us the homework assignment and we copy the notes off the board

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

cool that's good to hear, i'm planning on being a math teacher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats good, i think you make a super good math teacher!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would*
