How do you relate difference of two squares in your life? i need broader explaination:) thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoever gave you these questions is really mean. >.> Some stuff in math is never used in the outside world, or in daily activities. Seriously, there are mathematicians who dont use a difference of two squares. Ever. How would a person that is not a mathematician use it in their life? other than because you have to pass a math test about a difference of two squares. >.>

i cant think of anything =/

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

its just a tool used in math to solve problems but it could be used in physics, chemistry, engineering, statistics ...

Say you want to multiply two numbers that are 2 units away (and you can't use a calculator). You can use the difference of squares rule to do this Ex: multiply 23 and 25 or rewrite 23 as 24-1 and rewrite 25 as 24+1 to say that 23*25 = (24-1)*(24+1) You would then use the difference of squares to carry this out
