i want to do java programs on linux platform so help me out how to install & use java in linux???

actually i'm comfortable with windows environment so nw just wanted to work with fedora11 so can u help me out..!!!

well, just type this in a terminal "su -c "yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk" That should do, although, why don't you use an ubuntu like... It is pretty easy to do anything there.

you have your computer with Fedora and an internet connection right now??

i'm on laptop so using both windows & fedora11 using virtual box.. n i'm using net through mobile..

ok, just open your terminal, and type su -c "yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk" You probably will need your root password

ya i got it, its installing after dat hw we need to set path for it???

I believe you don't need to do that in Fedora, generally the packages do that for you, but if I am mistaken> http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=106622
