Can anyone explain notational functions for me? Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure. usually written as \[f(x)=\text{expression}\] like \[f(x)=x^2-x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the variable used is irrelevant because the function \[f(x)=x^2-x\] \[f(z)=z^2-z\] \[f(\phi)=\phi^2-\phi\] all say the same thing. square and subtract

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have a specific question best to ask. maybe with a specific function.

Took me a bit, but I understand now. Thank you!
