Physics: initially, sphere A has a charge of -50e and sphere B has a charge of +20e. The sphere are made of conducting material and are identical in size. If the spheres then touch, what is the resulting charge on sphere A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it may get neutralized -50 +20 = -30 and hence two spheres are same I think each should get -15. That is what I think. hehe lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thats what i thought 2 but im not sure...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me either lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is correct. The charges will level down to -30 and he charge density will be equal. ie The charges will spread out evenly. Because the spheres are the same material and size, They will mean that they will both have half the charge.

Excuse typos - all fingers and thumbs today.

lol ok cool
