Jules kicks a soccer ball off the ground and into the air with an initial velocity of 25 feet per second. Assume the starting height of the ball is 0 feet. Approximately, how long does it take until the soccer ball hits the ground again?

vertically up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or an an angle of less than 90 degrees with the vertical?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"s" being the displacement = 0 "u" = 25 (initial velocity) "a" = -9.81 (assuming that it is accelerating constantly) s=ut - 0.5at^2 0 = 25t - 4.905t^2 t( 25 - 4.905t) = 0 so t = 5.096 So it tkaes 5.096seconds
