How do I find the access of symmetry for a Parabola?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its the axis that the parabola is mirrored over

OpenStudy (amistre64):

depending on the form of the equation there are a few clues as to how to spot it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y = (x-n)^2 +m ; the axis of symmetry is then x = n y = ax^2 + bx + c ; the axis of symmetry is then x = -b/2a
