i want to know how to develop an algorithm to differentiate a image of a group of ppl and an image with a single person...i mean as far as i know u gotta use thresholding but i am not getting any further...Can someone pls pls give me a hint on how to proceed??

There are a number of good facial detection algorithms out there. Why not start with one and modify/use it to detect multiple faces.
