How would I find the discriminant of 3x^2+2x-7 and what does it ell me about the equation?

hero (hero):

\[\sqrt{b^2-4ac}\] Tells you whether there are real solutions or not.

hero (hero):

If the value under the square root is positive, then real solutions exist. If the value under the square root is negative, then no real solutions exist.

hero (hero):

Oh, and Hi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol hello, how are you today?

hero (hero):

I'm good. Just completed a day in class. About as terrible as it is for you at the bar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol awww

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if \[b^2-4ac=0\] there is one solution, at the vertex, and it is a perfect square

hero (hero):

Thanks Sat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just butted in, sorry

hero (hero):

I was actually giving her general info as it related to this specific quad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not exactly sure if I'm supposed to actually solve this or not though.

hero (hero):

Yes, you are.

hero (hero):

Well, at least assume you have to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did :)
