How to solve for x with steps? 3x+7=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x+7=x 3x+7-x=0 2x+7=0 x=-7/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain further the answer is kinda messy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok see here : first of all transpose x to left hand side \[3x-x+7=0\] \[ 2x+7=0\] tranpose 7 to right hand side \[2x=0-7\] \[2x=-7\] divide both sides by 2 \[2x/2 = -7/2\] \[x=-7/2\]
