how do I factor 4v²+15v-4?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

did u tried to solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4(-4)=-16. Two numbers that add up to 15 and multiply to -16 are....16 and -1. Plug them in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4x-1)(x+4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I can't think of anything that could be 4x4 and also equal to 15..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4v^2+16v-v-4 Take common... 4v(v+4)-1(v+4)= (4v-1)(v+4)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

RIght.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats v instead of x ----- (4v-1)(v+4) hehehe

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

4v^2+16v-v-4 Take common... 4v(v+4)-1(v+4)= \[\huge (4v-1)(v+4)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me if this is wrong= 8v²+31v-4 (8v²-1v)(32v-4) 1v(8v-1) 4(8v-1) (v+4)(8v-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[4v^2+15v-4\] \[4v^2+16v-y-4\] \[4v(v+4)-1(v+4)\] \[(4v-1)(v+4)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[8v^2+31v-4\] \[8v^2+32v-1v-4\] \[8v(v+4)-1(v+4)\] \[(8v-1)((v+4)\] ur answer and this answer is same and ur process is also right hence u r right
