Suppose that tuition is initially $100 per credit and increases by 6% from the first year to the second year. What is the cost of tuition the second year? Now suppose that tuition decrease by 6% from the second to the third year. Is tuition equal to $100 per credit the third year?

to increase by 6% is same as multiplying by 1.06 -> 100% + 6% = 106% = 1.06 to decrease by 6% is same as multiplying by 0.94 -> 100% -6% = 94% = 0.94 100*1.06 = 106 (Cost for 2nd year) 106*0.94 = 99.64 (Cost for 3rd year)
