b^2+5b-14

OpenStudy (aravindg):

b=2 or -7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b^2 + 7b - 2b - 14 b(b+7)-2(b+7) (b-2)(b+7)

So you see b^2 that means there will be two b's... if multiplied together, it will produce b^2. (b ) (b ). Then you see the 14. Find factors of 14... like 7 and 2, right? So now it will look something like this (b 7)(b 2). You see that 14 is negative, so it must be positive 7 times negative 2... (b+7)(b-2)... The answer is (b+7)(b-2)
