choose 4 basic functions f(x) to study, compare the graphs of y=f(ax) and y=af(x) with the graph of y=f(x), what effect does the # a have on the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = f(x) okay let me assume a graph for y=f(x)|dw:1314602136528:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=af(x)|dw:1314602174578:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=f(ax)|dw:1314602219455:dw|

maria did you get the graphs

yes but i still dont get how it works with equations, like if i use y=x^2+1 how do i change it into y=f(ax) and y=af(x)?
