u^2-6u-u+6 i already slit the middle term but now im stuck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you start with \[u^2-7u+6\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to factor come up with two numbers whose produce is 6 and whose sum is -7. they are -1 and -6 so you get \[(u-6)(u-1)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are trying to "factor by grouping" (never really got this) and you start with \[u^2-6u-u+6\] you rewrite as \[u(u-6)-1(u-6)=(u-1)(u-6)\] which seems like a lot of strange work to me, but some people enjoy it
