\[\log_{a} 2=x and \log_{a} 5=y \]
Find in terms of x and y and expression for \[\log_{2} 5 and \log_{a} 20\]
by the "change of base" formula, \[\log_2(5)=\frac{\log_a(5)}{\log_a(2)}=\frac{x}{y}\]\]
and since \[20=2^2\times 5\] \[\log_a(20)=\log_a(2^2\times 5)=\log_a(2^2)+\log_a(5)=2\log_a(2)+\log_a(5)=2x+y\]
for the first one. \[\log_{a} 5\] is on top and that = y was that a mistype of how it's suppose to be?
