OpenStudy (atlchic):

Can someone help me? Your sock drawer has 10 blue socks, 16 red socks, and 12 white socks. If you reach into the drawer in the dark, how many socks do you need to pull out to be sure you have a matching pair? I can't figure out.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

5 id guess

OpenStudy (amistre64):

...do 4 lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would go with 4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

b,r,w, (b r or w)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

blue, red, white and... whatever is next has to match something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now argyle would be a different story

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the question is; how much in a rush are you that you have to get dressed in the dark and how would you know which of the 4 are actually a pair :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finally got those low sneaker socks that everyone wears hate 'em

OpenStudy (atlchic):

hello can one else help?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the possibility of not picking a pair goes: b,r,w in 3 tries; note that the 4th try has to be either a b,r, or w; which will make at least one pair of socks that match
