describe the eqn x^2 + y^2+z^2 is less than 9, for calc 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 < x < 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A ball of radius 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know it is a sphere, though it needs to include something about the interior and center

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's a ball, a sphere is only the outside.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To be precise, since it is less than 3^2 rather than less equal it does not include the surface.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer choices were A. a sphere centered at the origin with radius 3 B. the exterior of the sphere centered at the origin with radius 3 C. interior of sphere centerd at origin with radius 3 D. straight line segment E none of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If u read what I put in my last post, the answer is obviously c ( the inside of a sphere plus its exterior (not one of your choices) is called a "ball" 2nd para here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphere)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i was debating between c and none of the above, bc since there is not a less than or equal to inequality, i thought it wud only be in the interior not centered at anythign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hope that helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are some issues about the centre, they need not concern u for this question.

Here is another link for u to look at http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=ball
