How do abiotic factors affect (positively and negatively) the carbon cycle?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Hmmm they could be a source or a sink. I mean volcanoes are a huge carbon emitter though the air could be view as a sink for gaseous carbon. Are you thinking long term or short term?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Dang, I was hoping you would narrow it down a little. Aboitic factors are all of those non-organic parts of the environment, these all interact with the carbon cycle. Also, there is no 'negative' or 'positive' effects, they simply effect the cycle, changing the state of carbon. Here are a couple of good carbon cycle websites :) http://www.visionlearning.com/library/module_viewer.php?mid=95 http://www.eoearth.org/article/Carbon_cycle?topic=49505
