Fun Fact #18: Under the arid lands of North-Western Australia there are many aquifers and in these aquifers live Stygofauna. This stygofauna is so old that many species are linked to Pangea (back when the continents were joined) and are considered ecological relics, their species living underground for millions of years. Unfortunately not a whole lot is known about these tiny white creatures, we aren't even sure how many species of them there are. They live in pore spaces between grains in rocks and sand as well as pools and streams in caves.
