I need to start getting out there and get a career, but I hate writing about myself and people always say I under sell myself when filling out applications or writing cover letters. Any advice?

Foster your individuality first so you can cherish the things that makes you stand out from the others. This way, you'll avoid selling yourself short and you can start valuing yourself for what you truly are. I used to have the same problem before and I must say, there's nothing like good introspective reflection to get you down to the root cause of all this.
