what is the difference between infumum/supremum and minimum/maximum?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

sometimes there isn't a difference min([0,1])=0 , max([0,1])=1 inf([0,1])=0, sup([0,1])=1 sometimes there is min((0,1))=does not exist , max((0,1))=does not exist inf((0,1))=0, sup((0,1))=1 the min is the smallest value in a set. the infimum is the greatest lower bound the max is the largest value in a set. the supremum is the least upper bound
