factorise 4xy-8y^2, I answered 2(2xy-4y^2) why was I wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need to factor the 'y' out as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can take 4y out 4y (x - 2y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the GCF (greatest common factor) of the two terms is 4y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes so (2x-4y) still share a 2 in common pull it out 2y*2 is 4y and ull end up with 4y(x-2y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so look out for the GCF.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Brillant Thank you guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. mainly

OpenStudy (anonymous):
