a few years ago north america car makers used steel ( mostly iron ) to construct the frame , motor, and transmission case their cars. today aluminum is used for much of the same parts. explain why.

aluminum is cheap and weighs wayyyyyyy less so you get better fuel economy

aluminum is cheaper found in the environment light weight and easier to shape also does not rust but instead goes through a similar process that produces a clear coat of oxide that is stronger than the actual metal this is corundum witch is one of the known hardest substances.
