1.The software sudo is useful to give users the right to execute commands that otherwise need higher permissions. Ubuntu does not even have a root-account anymore that you can login into, you need to run sudo (maybe in combination with su) to gain root privileges.

I wonder if there is such an UI already - on Ubuntu, I did not find anything like that yes, but maybe SuSE or RedHat has one. In any case, it would be a nice thing to have

2.Portable VM - Api
why not creating a portable WM-API, which can run on X11-Based UI-Systems as well as Windows, Quartz and other Systems? Maybe there is one, I couldnt find one so far.
Making something portable often means to make a compromise with a lot of tradeoffs. For example, when you want to make something like Compiz Fusion portable, you will run into problems immediately, because it may not be easy to actually get the surfaces of the rendered Window-Contents in a portable way in every case – depending on the format of it, and depending on which Drawing-API is used

On the other hand, there is a portable VFS-API (FUSE), there are portable File-Access-Libraries, portable Graphic-Libraries and Windowing-Toolkits, which all have to handle basically the same problems.

3.Textonly-IM-Client without encoding-problems
I hate encodings. I dont understand why not everybody just uses utf-8, at least for data exchange. I really like Textonly-Software, running in an Xterm, but as soon as run into trouble with encodings, it is almost impossible to use it.

I tried Finch, CenterIM and Irssi+Bitlbee which I liked most and did best with encoding-problems, but all of them are sort of convenient, when you got used to them. But all of them have problems when special characters are sent.
