To qualify for a sales award, Robert Retail must have more than $15000 in sales of a particular laptop computer. The computer sells for $599. How many computers must Mr. Retail sell in order to qualify for the award? Write an inequality to model this situation. Let c = the number of computers.

If c is the number of computers, then the amount of money he makes for that number of computers is 599c. The amount of money has to be more than $15000 so 599c>15000 to qualify. To find the minimum number solve this inequality, but don't forget you have to have an integer number of computers. This means c>15000/599 -> c>25.0417 BUT you can't have 0.417 of a computer so he has to sell 26 computers.
