Which of the following is the equation of the axis of symmetry of the quadratic equation y = 2x^2 – 12x + 22? Answer a.x = –4 b.x = –3 c.x = 3 d.x = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c. I would write it in vertex form. Factor out a 2 2(x^2-6x) + 22 2(x^2-6x+9) + 22 + 18 2(x-3)^2 + 40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops I meant -18 in the second to last step last one is: 2(x-3)^2 + 4

It doesn't change the answer though. The vertex is (3,4) so the line is x = 3
