So for an arithmetic sequence or series you have a bunch of terms for example an arithmetic sequence like asubn = a1 + 49d. a1 is the first term of the sequence and d is the common term of the sequence. Sigma notation conveniently will help you get the sum of all the terms in the sequence. If there are 49 terms in the sequence you will have: \[\sum_{i = 1}^{49}\]
