not that I look at it, it seems simpler but when it comes to doing it on my own, ther are so many mistakes I make

yeah...that's the thing with algebra it takes practice and knowledge of the formulas the one I used for the top of the original expression was:
\[a^{3} - b^{3} = (a-b)(a^2 + ab + b^2)\]
