What is Mitosis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is the cellular reproductive cycle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

meiosis= gamete production, 4 daughter cells, half chromosomes for the parents cells mitosis= normal tissue, two daughter cells, same number of chromosomes as the parent nucleus . too put it simply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in simpler terms, it is a cell reproducing itself. It divides itself in two, creating an exact duplicate of itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The cell cycle which is the process in which a cell duplicates itself is made up of 3 steps. 1) Interphase 2) Mitosis 3) Cytokinesis. Interphase involves the cell duplicating its DNA content and its chromosomes while increasing in size through the production of RNA and proteins. Cytokinesis is the splitting of the cytoplasm. Mitosis specifically means splitting of the nucleus which involves the processes prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

During mitosis, chromosome movement is dependent on the mitotic spindle, a football (go Giants! Go Jets!) shaped structure of microtubules that guides the separation of the 2 sets of separating chromosomes http://in.docsity.com/en-docs/Cells_Reproduction_-_Principles_of_Biology_-_Lecture_Slides_pdf
