A runner wants to run 10.8 km. She knows that her running pace is 8.5 miles per hour. How many minutes must she run?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A kilometer is .62 miles. So you would need to convert the kilometers to miles and then figure out how many hours she would run and then convert that to minutes. That can be easily done through using factor labeling. \[10.8 km * (0.62 miles/1 km) * (1 hour/8.5 miles) * (60 \min/1 hour)= 47.3 minutes\] The trick to factor labeling is to have the units on opposite sides of the fraction. You want them to cancel each other out. Hope this makes sense and helps!

Also I don't know where the actual answer went but you should get 47.3 minutes.
