1/3x=2/3x+5

x = -15

How Did You Get -15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ \frac{1}{3}x = \frac{2}{3}x + 5 \] First to work with this lest get rid of the fraction. To get rid of the fraction multiply each side by 3 \[ 3(\frac{1}{3}x) = 3(\frac{2}{3}x + 5) \] x = 2x +15 x -2x = +15 -1x = 15 \[ \frac{-1x}{-1} = \frac{15}{-1} = -15 \]
