some people like working with decimals some don't if i saw \[ 5.95+.08x=9.95+.04x\] i might write \[595+8x=995+4x\] so make it look nicer also you don't have to remember how to divide by a decimal

Yes, you can do it if you wish, but by no mean is it necessary. Whether you do it or not, you'll come up with the same answer.
