I need help solving factoring problems. I completely forgot how to do them. How do I factor 36t^4 + 29t^2-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(t^2+1)(36t-7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoops missing the ^2 above the ......36t^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(t^2+1)(36t^2-7) :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain! I'm lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its just like factoring 36t^2+29t-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make two brackets find out what multiplies to -36 *7 and adds to 29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what about 16x^2+56x+49

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4x+7)(4x+7)

When looking at this one you feel overwhelmed, but if you break it down and see the factors then you can easily see how it works out. Also, when your last coeffecient is pos that means that when you factor it both parenthesis will be the same value as your second number. So if 56x was - then I would have put to - symbols instead if +

I don't understand how to solve trinomials that the the numbers for example in this problem 2x^4-15x^3+18x^2 (the factors of 18 don't add up to 15)
