2x to the 2 power in parenthesis to the -4th power

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x^2)^-4 , right?

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

2x^-8

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

Since you're raising a power to a power, you multiple the exponents to get what I posted which was \[2x ^{-8}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer would be (1/16x^8), because when theres a negative exponent, you use the recipricol to make it positive.

if you have your answer as a negative exponent, it's not simplified all the way.
