You can always look at something new. A Google News search for "health concerns" turned up a few articles on tattoos, both US and UK media are covering it today. Some report must have just been published. You can always find a new health problem. They're constant.

You could write about the loss of Survival of the Fittest, and how it impacts humanity's gene pool disease-wise. You could make it comical but serious, since it's a comical but serious issue.

Two ideas came to mind. First, you could talk about how portions have completely gotten out of control and in a society where many times we are buying our food prepared for us, this issue can be resolved even though it SEEMS out of our control. You could do an ironic commercial for a restaurant that has massive portions and a play about kids who got simply because they ate at restaurants got fat....it's not too far of a stretch.

Also, this is a little deeper and more complex but you could approach the paradox of medical care inhibiting our ability to evolve. I am sure with some research you could find some actions humans do every day that is preventing the evolution of the human race.

A good answer could be anything really, like you said cancer and or obesity. Try writing about aids, flu, swine flu, anything disease related. Make sure to write about something your interested in and would be a good topic to your audience. Is your audience, elem. schoolers, middle schoolers, high schoolers, is this for college. Think about who your audience is.
