What are the two types of cholesterol ?

High-density lipoproteins (HDLs) which are able to remove cholesterol from atheromas and transport it back to the liver for excretion or re-utilization, the 'good' cholesterol (but avoid using that term). Low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) which contribute to atherosclerosis therefore promoting cardiovascular diseases, the 'bad' cholesterol.
