if ruth's speed is x, bud's speed is x+10 --> in 2 hours, ruth would have travelled 2x and bud would have travelled 2(x+10) = 2x + 20 --> add both together --> 2x + 2x + 20 = 4x + 20 --> since that is the distance they travelled, 4x+20 = 308 --> 4x = 288 --> x = 72 --> can u solve from there?
